Why is fall protection important?

Falls are one of the most common causes of accidents on construction sites. According to the Finnish Government Decree on Safety in Construction Work, fall protection is mandatory whenever the working height is two meters or higher, as well as in other situations where there is a specific risk of accident or drowning. Guardrails are considered the primary fall protection, but if their use is not possible, appropriate fall arrest harnesses with lanyards/ropes must be used. Fall protection planning

Fall protection planning is one of the work phases that significantly improves occupational safety on a construction site, and it is also required by law. Plans offer other benefits to the construction site besides compliance with the letter of the law. Well-executed planning allows the needs of the construction site to be optimized, thus avoiding situations where there is too much or too little equipment on site. In addition, plans and accurate equipment quantities make it easier to estimate construction site costs in good time.

At Ramirent, safety railings are always designed using 3D modeling, resulting in clear and easy-to-understand images for use on the construction site. Our designers and sales staff work with the customer to select the most suitable products for the project, which are available for a wide range of structures and fastening methods. Safety railings can be attached, for example, to the facade, between shell elements, surface-mounted to floor slabs, or pressed against the edge of the vault, depending on the needs of the construction site. The design always follows the manufacturers’ instructions, which is why the plans are only suitable for use with the product family in question.
